i recently discovered Headspace, a meditation app. today was my third day of the 10-day trial. Andy Puddicombe, an ex-Buddhist monk, guides you through each segment. essentially, i focus on my breathing, evaluate how i feel, count my breaths up to ten a few times, and before i know it Andy’s politely telling me, in his darling British accent, to slowly open my eyes.
cue a delicious emptiness in my head. there’s so much space up there. who knew. even on the first day i noticed the vacuum. i can’t wait to continue and unlock deeper changes.
Headspace also demystifies the process with short animations. i’ve watched all of them, but the one below is my favorite. the blue sky saying, “I can see you” brings tears to my eyes. i’m planning to sign up for the one-year subscription so i’ll post occasional updates on my progress.
