song: "the emotion" by BØRNS
here's the latest song i've put under a daily listening quota. atmospheric and rich, it's a must-listen.
“Don’t turn away. Keep your gaze on the bandaged place. That’s where the light enters you.” --Rumi
do you know about Epic Magazine? an online home for "stories that tap into the thrill of being alive," it's a virtual testament proving "fact is stranger than fiction." for real.
their latest article, "The Cold War," covers dueling ice cream vendors in Oregon. just trust me. their graphics are stellar and cheeky and the writing's impeccable.
a few years ago i was using my boss’s MOMA discount to buy a calendar. i told her it was Michael Domberger's Jumping Point and she exclaimed,
“oh right, i got that for my nephew years ago!”
“uh…the one who’s in high school now?” i asked.
i persevered, bought the calendar, and fought the good fight called “there’s technically no age limit.” still, i never repurchased.
every day is a perforated, unique color swatch. as days pass, you can tear them from the pack and combine as you wish to form a palette.
and since each strip has the color’s CMYK code, i can almost write off ownership as a vaguely adult undertaking, like using it to decide what color to paint my bedroom.
although we all know that is never happening. especially if i have an entire year to decide.
